Each March, our nation recognizes Medal of Honor Month, culminating on National Medal of Honor Day, March 25th—a day dedicated to honoring the extraordinary men who have received our nation’s highest award for valor.

At Flags of Valor, this month holds special meaning. As veterans and craftsmen, we understand the importance of service—but being around Medal of Honor recipients reminds us just how deep sacrifice and courage truly run.

Over the past several years, we have been given the incredible opportunity to spend time alongside Medal of Honor recipients and support the mission of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. To be welcomed into their world—even in a small way—is something we will never take for granted.

A Privilege to Stand Among Heroes

This year, we had the honor of attending events in New York City, standing alongside Medal of Honor recipients and those dedicated to preserving their legacy

What stands out most isn’t just their bravery—it’s their humility. These men continue to serve long after their time in combat, dedicating themselves to education, mentorship, and strengthening communities across the country.

We left inspired, grateful, and reminded why honoring service matters.

Crafting Pieces That Carry Meaning

One of the greatest honors we’ve experienced has been creating meaningful pieces used during some of the Society’s most important moments.

We created table plaques featuring the word Courage—inspired by the closing words of the Declaration of Independence:

”…we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

We were also entrusted with crafting a ceremonial gavel used by Medal of Honor recipient Britt Slabinski to open meetings. That gavel holds materials from historic and sacred locations, including:

  • Normandy — Utah and Omaha Beach
  • Iraq
  • Iwo Jima
  • Vietnam
  • Tinian
  • Saipan
  • The World Trade Center — marble from the Twin Towers steps

Each material represents sacrifice and connects generations of service members across time.

Honoring Those No Longer With Us

We have also had the privilege of creating custom flags presented to leaders who actively support the veteran community, including:

These presentations represent the growing network of leaders dedicated to supporting service members and their families.

Forever Grateful

At Flags of Valor, honoring service is at the heart of everything we do. Being welcomed into these moments reminds us that our role is simply to carry forward the legacy of these heroes through craftsmanship, storytelling, and respect.

We remain forever grateful.
Forever humbled.
And forever inspired by those who continue to lead through courage and service.
